Apr 4 - Author reading: "The Adoption" 7:30PM Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, Third Floor Jamestown NY. Author David Schein will read from his novel. "Gleaned from Schein’s many travels to Ethiopia, where he co-founded with the children of the Southern Dawn Circus, the One Love AIDS/HIV Awareness Theater."
Apr 4-7 - Playshop: "Urinetown: The Musical" Allegheny College, Vukovich Center, Gladys Mullenix Black Theater,  Meadville PA. "satire of populism, government inefficiency, waning natural resources, corporate mismanagement, and bodily functions."
Apr 5 - "The Best of Enemies" (2019) nationwide release. Based on the life of grassroots activist Ann Atwater.
Apr 6 – Staged Reading of “12 Angry Men” performed by “12 Impassioned Women”  Meadville Community Theatre, Meadville PA “12 Angry Men” was written in 1954, 19 years before women were permitted to serve on juries in all 50 states. Over the weekend of April 5 – 8,, women on stages across the country will read a play about the power one person can have when they speak with conviction in our judicial system.
Apr 6 - Staged reading: "Some Brighter Distance" 7:30pm at The Robert H. Jackson Center 305 E. Fourth St Jamestown NY. "This time-bending play explores the true, untold story of President Truman’s 'Operation Paperclip' and questions the cost of burying the past in pursuit of the future."

Apr 11 – “A Panel Discussion on Survival and Moving Forward" 7pm Stambaugh Auditorium, Youngstown OH. YSU’s Centofanti Symposium presents. Panelists include: Sue Klebold, mother of Dylan Klebold, the Columbine high school shooter; Fred Guttenberg, Father of Jaime Guttenberg who was killed in the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting; Kaitlin Roig, former Sandy Hook teacher; Angel Colon, survivor of the Pulse Nightclub mass shooting; Susan Bro, mother of Heather Heyer, who was killed by a white supremacist in Charlottesville.Free tickets 3/4/19 through Stambaugh Auditorium website or 330-259-0555.

Apr 16 - "Saving Our Synthetic Seas" 7:00 pm Walker Recital Hall Mercyhurst University, Erie PA Marcus Eriksen, Ph.D., the research director and co-founder of the 5 Gyres Institute, studies the global distribution and ecological impacts of plastic marine pollution, which has included expeditions sailing through all five subtropical gyres. Apr 26 - May 4 - Staged Reading: "A Bright Room Called Day" (Dramashop, 1001 State St. 2nd Fl., Erie, PA) "The main story plays out in pre-World War 2 Germany, where a group of artists and friends are caught up in the fall of democracy and the rise of Hitler. The action in interspersed with scenes from NYC in the Reagan era. From Tony Kushner, the author of the brilliant Angels in America."

Apr 29 - Humane Lobby Day PA State Capitol, Harrisburg PA. Lobby PA state legislators for better animal protections. Followed by Pawlitical Party

May 2 - Erie County Democratic Party Spring Dinner Featuring Tim Ryan (OH-13) MLK Center 3rd & Chestnut
May 3 - Native American Heritage Event  6 PM · Hirt Auditorium, Blasco Memorial Library, 160 E Front St Erie PA The Allegany River Indian Dancers showcase the traditional songs and dances of the Iroquois, storyteller and longtime educator Perry Ground will recount stories and the history of his Onondaga Turtle Clan along with lore from other Native cultures,  Leon Sam Briggs will talk about Chief Cornplanter.
May 3 - "Joan Chittister: Her story, my story, our story"  Mercyhurst University, Erie PA Written and performed by Teri Bays, who calls it “a one-woman play about the intersecting lives of women facing adversity, abuse and injustice.” Joan D. Chittister, OSB, will respond following the presentation. Free and open to public, but tickets required.
May 5 -  - Bishop Gene Robinson at Wayside Presbyterian Wayside Presbyterian Church, 1208 Asbury Road, Erie PA. Retired Episcopal bishop will bring insight to LGBTQ issues  at 8:30 and 11:00 services. wayside-erie.org
