Update on response to Trump attack on Iran

Update. Please feel free to comment, correct, etc. ~deb

REVIEW of EVENTS
🌍On Jan. 3 Trump announced the assassination of Iranian major general Soleimani.
🌍On Jan. 3/4 Doris Cipolla called a rapid response demonstration in Perry Square.
🌍 Jan 4 No War with Iran local action takes place in Perry Square. Small, but considering the lead time a good turnout,  covered by local media, and part of a nationwide response. See video
🌍 Jan 5 – Trump brings up possibility of attacking 52 cultural sites in Iran. A war crime.
🌍 Jan 6 I set up No War with Iran – NW PA group because it looked like we needed to get together fast to react to what was promising to be an extreme crisis.
🌍 Jan 7 Trump retreats from course to WW3 See AP News article

πŸ™„ And now, Trump is talking about peace. Sort of.

RESPONSE
How to respond to this insanity?

I've spoken with people from three different organizations related to the responding to Iran crisis. (Anne M from Benedictines for Peace, Darnell from Keystone Progress Erie and members of long-inactive Erie Peace Initiative.)

none of the three organizations I spoke with seemed inclined *at this point* to organize beyond the quick response shown by Doris.  That we are now into another phase.

Global Day of Protest on the 25th will be going on around in other communities if people want to take part in... You can go to their page to see whats nearby,  and this weekend. I will try to find listings for the area if people want to go to an event that is organized nearby.

Also if anyone wants to call a local event or vigil or something like you wont be stepping on someone elses event.

I'll set up an email list for rapid response if people want to be on that you can email me at moonkat2014@gmail.com. I won't share that list.

AN ASIDE ABOUT FACEBOOK EVENT PAGES
I'd also like to point out that if you use a Facebook event page to make an announcement about your event that what I've noticed is that they really don't share that unless you pay for it. Facebook event pages that arent boosted do not seem to get much exposure, for instance the MLK march announcement that I posted here, I looked at the stats on it, and Facebook only shared it with nine people.

I have found you get a little more exposure if you announce the event in a poster type way that is that is in a picture. Or you can pay to boost an event page… whatever it's not really exorbitant but that's their business model you just need to be aware of it.
