    PennFuture opens Erie office  Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future was created in 1998 as a statewide environmental advocacy organization. In June 2020,  they opened an office in Erie.
    Shoe Strike held in Perry Square    "Taking a stand against Climate Change: As the newly minted GAIA Youth United group, Art House students organized Friday's Shoe Strike at Perry Square to raise awareness in the Erie community."
    Lake Erie: A Call to Action (Jefferson Educational Society 9/25/2020) Jefferson Scholar in Residence Dr. Judith Lynch discusses causes of algal blooms and E. coli contamination and argues that it is time to stop talking and start acting.

    Emmaus Ministries participates in Nuns on the Bus Tour 2020   "Since the Nuns on the Bus annual social justice bus tour sponsored by the Catholic advocacy group NETWORK could not go on the road, they asked organizations like Emmaus Ministries to share how federal policies can affect the people it serves,” said Breanna Mekuly, Emmaus staff member.

    Fanny Lou Hamer Risked Her Life for the Vote (Smithsonian Channel)  "Fannie Lou Hamer, an African-American voting rights activist, suffered unspeakable violence and intimidation at the hands of white supremacists and police. Her response: to elevate her cause by launching a long-shot campaign for the U.S. Senate."
    Making Women's History in Southwestern New York State "In addition to highlighting women’s important roles in their communities, the original  research published here shines a light on the contributions of New York’s Southern Tier to the cause of women’s equality."

    LGBTQ

    October is LGBTQ History Month
    Allyship in Motion October 6 at 6pm, virtual workshop. "This workshop will help queer youth come together and learn how they can create safe, affirming spaces for all members of the LGTBQIAA community. We will do this by answering: What does it mean to be ally? How do white queer youth support Black, Latinx, Indigenous, queer youth?" Hosted by  Greater  Erie Alliance for Equality. 
    Jamestown Pride and Fenton History Center Announce “National Coming Out Day” Event " October 11 livestreamed  courtesy of Robert H. Jackson Center. The stories shared will be added to an exhibit the Fenton History Center is compiling on the history about Chautauqua County’s LGBTQIA+ community.

    Artist as Activist: Angelique Kidjo: Artist as Activist Oct. 11 at Mercyhurst 2pm Free of charge, but registration is required.
    Latinx Artist Spotlight and Local Latinx Art Gallery Showcase "On Oct. 12, the Bruce Gallery at Edinboro will host the opening reception of the art exhibition, 'Let’s Pretend.' The exhibition will be co-curated with local artists of color, an expression of art for and by artists of color, not just Latinx. On Oct. 14, Edinboro will host a livestream at 5:30 pm with Latinx artists."
