NEWS

Just released
Radioactive: The Women of Three Mile Island  (2024) "At the prompting of an ecofeminism professor turned visual journalist, the four original 'concerned' mothers, a two-woman legal team and a reporter, now all much older, wiser, and bolder, break open years of corporate silencing and nuclear industry doublespeak, and tell their stories about the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant accident, the worst commercial nuclear reactor meltdown in U.S. history. And though this disaster took place in 1979, the life and death implications continue in the spiritual, physical, and political DNA of the community, its residents, and their descendants." Gov Shapiro announces climate plan (AP) "Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro unveiled a plan Wednesday to fight climate change, saying he will back legislation to make power plant owners in the nation's third-biggest energy-producing state pay for their greenhouse gas emissions and require utilities to buy more electricity from renewable sources... Shapiro's proposal comes as environmentalists are pressuring him to do more to fight climate change in the nation’s No. 2 gas-producing state and as the state's highest court considers a challenge to his predecessor's plan to adopt a carbon-pricing program. It also comes after many of the state's biggest power polluters, coal-fired plants, have shut down or converted to gas."

Erie Coke property to be condemned after Port Authority vote (YourErie) 'Sister Pat Lupo, a leader from Hold Erie Coke Accountable, said she feels confident that public input will continue to play a role in the future of the site' ...“We’re glad that the property will be owned by a local entity. We think that’s really important and feel that we’ll be able to have more interaction with things that are happening as the years go by,” said Sister Lupo.'
'According to a release, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have also issued written assurances that both the port authority and ECRDA will not be held liable for the existing environmental contamination at the site.'
