Mar 19 - Charles E. Curran: “Justice in the Christian Tradition.” 7:00 P.M. in Cole Auditorium at Edinboro University. “Curran long has been a controversial figure in the Catholic Church. His views and teachings on a range of contentious topics, from abortion and contraception to premarital sex, divorce and homosexuality, remain at odds with the Church’s, and in 1986, the Vatican took away his credentials to teach Catholic theology, effectively barring him from teaching Catholicism in any Catholic school. “The lecture and discussion is sponsored by the James F. Mar 25 – Romero Award Preesentation and Lecture The Mercyhurst University Department of Religious Studies presents its 2015 Archbishop Oscar Romero Award to Sister Mary Claire Kennedy, SSJ, social justice coordinator for the Sisters of St. Joseph in Erie. The presentation is set for Wed., March 25, at 7 p.m. in the Mercy Heritage Room, Sullivan Hall. Known locally for her involvement in outreach efforts like the Thanksgiving Dinner and the “Take Back the Site” vigils, Sister Mary Claire has also been instrumental in raising awareness about human trafficking, the topic she will address in her lecture.” Info:  dmcfee@mercyhurst.edu

Mar 28 MATV Job Fair Mothers Against Teen Violence is once again sponsoring a Youth Summer Job Fair to take place Saturday, March 28 at the Booker T. Washington Center from 12-3PM. The orientation for job seekers, which was very well attended last year, will run from noon til 1PM and the Fair will pick up from 1-3PM 
Mar 28 - Gull Point Clean-Up  9am – 12pm Presque Isle State Park “Join Park Naturalists for a litter clean-up within the Gull Point Natural Area. Meet at Gull Point trailhead at Beach 10 parking lot. The natural area of Gull Point is closed to the public from April 1st until November 30th therefore, misses Presque Isle's annual spring clean-up and fall International Coastal Clean-up. The total out and back walk is four miles over sandy terrain. Once we arrive at the tip of Gull Point, we will be picking up debris along the shoreline. Be prepared for the weather on that day. He is the president and founder of The Algebra Project Inc., a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the mathematics achievement of historically underrepresented students and communities.

The Eco-Camp is for student’s ages 10-14 who are interested in learning more about the environment, recreation, sustainability, and water quality. Apr 9 – Maria Shriver joins Joan Chittister ‘In Conversation’ Mercyhurst University, Erie. Two women who share a passion for issues of peace and justice – especially as they affect women – will share the stage when Mercyhurst University hosts the second annual Joan D. Chittister Lecture on April 9.

Apr 16 – The Wisdom to Survive “Climate Change, Capitalism, and Community” At Erie Movie House, 3424 West Lake Rd, Erie 6PM. “sponsored by the Erie Friends (Quaker) Worship group, a community that meets twice a month for worship in the manner of Friends. A brief discussion of the film and social time with refreshments will follow the showing. Free will offering.”
Apr 16 -17 - AmeriMasala's first giant body puppet making workshop is tentatively scheduled at PACA 1505 State. This will be part of the AmeriMasala's UnoWE parade in July. People from Cleveland's Parade of the Circle will  teach and facilitate. Free and open to the public. Need to gather at least 25 folks for 4-5 different teams. Contact Lynn Johnson

Apr 28 - Stormwater: The New "Blue Gold"  6:00 pm. TREC, Erie PA. Organized by Environment Erie “Attendees will learn what low impact development is and how to encourage it in today’s world through best management practices that can be easily adapted to residential properties. Upon completion of the workshop, each participating household will receive a free Rain Wizard bin and stormwater handouts. There will be a fee of $10 per family to attend the workshop and limits of one bin per household, family members are welcome!” Refreshments served.

May 18 - Medea Benjamin in Erie Benedictines for Peace will sponsor Medea Benjamin as their Spring Speaker. Medea is co-founder of CodePink, a political activist group, and Global Exchange, a human rights organization. She is also the author of Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control and seven other books. Her work for justice in Israel and Palestine includes taking numerous delegations to Gaza and organizing the Gaza Freedom March.
