May 5 - Senate Democratic Policy Hearing on Natural Gas Drilling in the Lake Erie Watershed 10am - Noon,  Blasco Library, Hirt Auditorium, 160 E. Front  Street, Erie, PA Held by  Senator Lisa Boscola, who chairs the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Policy Committee, along with Senator Sean Wiley. Testimonies will be presented by invited participants representing organizations involved. Sr. Pat Lupo, O.B. will testify representing the Our Water, Our Air, Our Rights group and other area environmental groups. The Media and Public are invited to attend this free event.

May 7 – “Women on Fire” 1891 Fredonia Opera House, Fredonia NY 7:30pm. Presented by O’Connell & Co. Twelve emotionally-charged monologues explore the breacth of women’s issues with humor and wisdom.
May 7 – Lunafest 2016 – 6pm Quincy Cellars Winery 10606 West Main Rd., Ripley NY. Short films “by, for, and about women. The total run time of this season’s program is just under 90 minutes.”

May 10 - Erie Green Drinks "The mission of Erie Green Drinks is to provide a place in northwestern PA where environmentally and green minded people can mingle and have a great time. Please feel free to join them at the Brewerie at Union Square in the barber shop area at 6:30 p.m. every second Tuesday of the month!"
May 14 - Bike Around the Bay "New for 2016!! Bike Around the Bay will take place on Presque Isle State Park. All Riders will begin the ride from the Cookhouse pavilion, and Lunch will take place at the Rotary Pavilion. We hope to see you there!"

May 25 – Helen Prejean at the Mount Mount St. Benedict 6101 East Lake Road, Erie PA. Sister Helen Prejean has been instrumental in sparking national dialogue on the death penalty and helping to shape the Catholic Church’s newly vigorous opposition to state executions.. Dead Man Walking is based on her life and work. She will be speaking at Mount St. Benedict as part of the Benedictines for Peace Speaker Series  About Sister Helen 
May 26 - 28 "Crowns" Mt. Ebal Baptist Church, located at 1617 E. 26th St., Erie, PA Presented by Erie Theater Company "moving and celebratory musical play in which hats become a springboard for an exploration of black history and identity as seen through the eyes of a young black woman...Hats are everywhere from the etiquette of hats to their historical and contemporary social functioning. There is a hat for every occasion, from flirting to churchgoing to funerals to baptisms, and the tradition of hats is traced back to African rituals and slavery and forward to the New Testament and current fashion."
