Jan 5 & 9 - Princess Mononoke (1997) 20th Anniversary Tinseltown Erie (1/5 subtitles, 1/9 dubbed) "one of the best environmental movie in history. Inspired by the tumultuous Muromachi era in Japanese history, Princess Mononoke explores the relationship between humans and nature in all its complex and tragic facets." ~Ekostories.  Graphic violence.
Jan 6 - "Hidden Figures" (2016) Wide release date of the untold story of the black women behind NASA's early successes. Based on the book of the same name.

Feb 18 – American Spiritual Ensemble Mercyhurst University, Erie PA. "Composed of some of the finest classically trained singers in the United States, the group strives to keep the tradition of the American Negro spiritual alive. "
Feb 23-26 -  "Man of No Importance" Taylor Little Theatre, Mercyhurst University, Erie PA. "Alfie Byrne is a bus driver in 1964 Dublin, whose heart holds secrets he can't share with anyone but his imagined confidante, Oscar Wilde. When he attempts to put on an amateur production of Wilde's Salome in the local church hall, he confronts the forces of bigotry and shame over a love “that dare not speak its name.” But the redemptive power of theater changes his life and brings his friends back to his side."

  • Scott Bremner joins Erie Talk in the Morning. Veteran newsman and assignment editor Scott Bremner joins live local talk Erie Talk in the Morning with Barry Dane Steinhagen. The show airs weekdays 6-9am at WJET 1400AM. Scott describes himself as "moderate", Barry as "liberal." Discourse is generally civil and hosts well-informed. .
  • VotePA  Interested in election integrity? Check out VotePA "statewide non-partisan alliance of groups and individuals fighting for voting rights and election integrity in Pennsylvania. We were formed in early 2005 to work for fair, accurate, and accessible elections for all in the Keystone State. Our special area of expertise is in voting machines and voting systems." Easily confused with Votes PA which is operated through the state.
