 Apr 28 - Workers Memorial Day Service 6:00pm - 7:30pm Erie City Hall Chambers 626 State Street Erie, PA. "The Erie-Crawford CLC will host the 31st  Annual Workers' Memorial Service. This is a solemn ceremony to pay tribute to all those workers who lost their lives as a result of an accident or illness at work, from April 28, 2016 to April 27, 2017.  The service is open to the public.  Please join us." Apr 29 - People's Climate March in Erie 2-4pm  103 East Avenue, Erie PA. "Our march will start at the East Avenue Boat Ramp at 2 pm. We will pass by the Erie Coke Plant, and we will end our march at Wayne Park. There will be a pre-march beach clean up beginning at 1 pm. and you are welcome and encouraged to participate. Please bring friends and family as well as signs!" Hosted by Our Water, Our Air Our Rights.

May1 - Marcha porlos Derechos de los Inmigrantes - May  Day March!  3-7:30PM South Water and Hot Metal Street (near South Side Works) Pittsbugh PA.  "Can't make it to the march? Join us after from 5:30-7:30pm for food, music, and community building at the Pittsburgh Federation of Teachers Hall (10 S. 19th St.)" Sponsored by Casa San Jose, LCLAA and others.
May 6-7 - "Spirit of Freedom" picnic At John Brown Farm, Tannery & Museum  17620 John Brown Rd, in Guys Mills,PA, celebrates Brown's birthday (May 9)  John Brown was a radical abolitionist who led the raid at Harpers Ferry, Virginia on Oct. 16, 1859. A major stop on the Underground Railroad (he helped in the passing of 2,500 slaves).

May 7 Heron May Day ·  1-7pm The Heron, 2361 Wait Corners Rd, Sherman, NY 14781, "A day to celebrate spring and gather with Heron friends to enjoy a potluck & music at the main stage. Maypole decorating. Volunteer sign up and info about the festival available. Open to the public. Free. Kids love MayDay! Music & potluck start at 2pm. Maypole and bonfire to follow."

May 22 - BFP Speaker Series: Leonard Shelton 7PM Mount St Benedict 6101 East Lake Rd, Erie PA. Hosted by Benedictines for Peace.  Army and Marine veteran Leonard Shelton. "Leonard will share about his struggle with PTSD, his awareness of the moral injury that happens in combat, and his ongoing struggle to put the pieces together in his everyday life."
May 23 - 13th Annual Young Readers Program - One of the "Little Rock Nine" Reg Lenna Center for the Arts, Jamestown NY 10am-3pm.  "Carlotta Walls LaNier, one of the "Little Rock Nine" comes to Jamestown to discuss her book "A Mighty Long Way: My Journey to Justice at Little Rock Central High School" and answer student questions.  This program is intended for middle and high school students."
May 25 - "The Burden" film screening Tom Ridge Evironmental Center, Erie PA. 6-9PM Panel discussion to follow  RSVP to CRANE@environmenterie.org by May 23  Free admission, concessions will be available for purchase. "tells the story of fossil fuel dependence as our greatest long-term national security threat, and why the military is leading the transition to clean energy. The film is the centerpiece of a strategic media engagement campaign to inspire a movement that strengthens our energy security and harnesses the power of American innovation to make us leaders in the 21st century global clean energy economy."
