Sep 3 - Mass Incarceration: In Search of Justice Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Erie 7180 Perry Hwy, Erie. "The Adult Education Committee and community members have been studying Michelle Alexander’s book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindess. In addition, three smaller groups are working to decrease the impact of mass incarceration locally and are eager to share their plans. Our guest speakers are Tyshun Taylor and Gary Horton. Recommended for teens and adults. Potluck lunch after the service. Musician: Pat Lorei."

Sep 4 - March with Keystone Progress on Labor Day "Join us as we march in Solidarity at the NWPA ALF Labor Day Parade. The parade runs from 11th and State to Perry Square. Perry Square, Erie PA "This Labor Day, join us at 11:30am, immediately following the parade, to demand the Erie we want and an economy that works for the many, not the few. Stand with the workers organizing for their rights and our future." Hosted by United Home Care Workers of PA and SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania.
Sep 8-9 - "Sila" and "Forward" Allegheny College, Meadville PA. "two staged readings of plays from Chantal Bilodeau’s 'The Arctic Cycle' on Sept. 8 and 9.  'Sila,'featuring characters representing competing and intertwined interests about the future of the Canadian Arctic, will be presented Friday, Sept. 8, followed by 'Forward,' presents a poetic and humorous history of Norway, from the initial passion that drove explorer Fridtjof Nansen to the North Pole to our present-day anxiety over the rapidly changing climate., on Saturday, Sept. 9. Performances are at 7 p.m. in the Gladys Mullenix Black Theatre in the Vukovich Center for Communication Arts, followed by an audience discussion with Bilodeau and Allegheny faculty."

Sep 12 - “Islam: Beyond the Myths, Breaking down the Barriers” SUNY Fredonia, Fredonia NY. "Dr. Amer Ahmed, an acclaimed scholar who studies Islamic culture and has earned praise for his ability to facilitate honest, authentic dialogue that replaces fear and stereotypes with facts and understanding, will be the 2017-2018 Maytum Convocation Lecturer and Williams Visiting Professor. He has a doctoral degree in Education from the University of South Dakota and has served as an intercultural diversity consultant, college administrator, facilitator, poet and hip hop activist. He has an M.A. and B.A., in Anthropology and Black Studies."  Free but tickets required.
