Erie County is suing five pharmacy chains over opioids (Erie Times-News) "The 236-page suit, filed in Erie County Common Pleas Court ... claims negligence and unjust enrichment and claims the defendants' actions created a public nuisance and violated Pennsylvania's unfair trade practices and consumer protection law"

Cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Jamestown, NY have invested in UBI programs to alleviate the trifecta of racism, poverty, and violence." ~Erie County United

Parents appeal dismissal of anti-mask lawsuits (Erie Times-News) "Appeal means taxpayers will continue to pay legal costs to defend Millcreek, North East school directors against parents' claims. Costs now total more than $20,000, with Millcreek's expenses higher."

Misclassifying PA workers as contractors costs millions in revenue (Reps. Pat Harkins, John Galloway, Joanna McClinton/Erie Times-News) "It's called misclassification, and when companies do it, they deprive workers of wage, workplace health and safety, and unemployment protections and benefits under Pennsylvania law."

Pay bumps coming for NY farmworkers, long denied overtime (AP) "Federal law exempts farms from rules entitling most workers to 1.5 times their regular wage when they work more than 40 hours in a week. New York is now joining several states that have begun to change the rule."

Unimpaired, unemployed (Spotlight PA) "While state law protects workers from being fired or denied a job just for having a doctor’s permission to use marijuana, those protections become opaque when people actually take the drug — regardless of whether they do it in their personal time."
