Hundreds of Penn State faculty questioning university leadership (Spotlight PA) more than 400 professors and lecturers have signed on to a letter questioning new President Neeli Bendapudi’s commitment to racial justice.



Dec 15 - When a Child is Worth More than the Worst Mistake He Ever Made "7pm Jefferson Ed. Society (Satellite location, Erie Center for Arts & Technology (ECAT)—650 East Ave. Suite 120, Erie, PA) Free. This program is about local artist and author Antonio Howard's book, "When a Child is Worth More than the Worst Mistake He Ever Made", which is his story as a juvenile "lifer". Followed by a book signing by the author.

The Stand Back & Stand By event was touted as a "comedy" event; the school cancelled it after escalating violence.

SCHOOLS & KIDS

Nov 30 - Local author event: "Escape to the Garage"  6:30pm Blasco Library, in the Peninsula Room, 160 Front St, Erie.   Aimee Eddy talks about her book based on the ableist bullying she experienced from children and teachers. Family love gives her refuge from the bullying and she is now an anti-bullying advocate. Free, public. Registration requested, not required, drop-ins welcome.

Nov 20 - Transgender Day of Remembrance 2pm Griswold Park Erie PA West 14th & Peach. The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The names of known transgender people lost since last year. 
Dec 8 - Empty Chairs: Erie Vigil - 10 Years After Sandy Hook   7-8 PM Temple Anshe Hesed, 5401 Old Zuck Rd, Erie, PA"It has been a decade since 20 children and 6 adults were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Since then, 15,000 Pennsylvanians have died by gun violence ...Survivors and friends will gather to honor the memories of those we've lost and demand an end to the violence."

SSJNN Connectivity Project A new initiative, spearheaded by the Sisters of St Joseph Neighborhood Network, is underway to improve the safety and experience of walking and riding around Erie neighborhoods, beginning with the Greater Little Italy and Federal Hill area.
