BLASCO

"Mud room" reference raises new concerns about Gannon's actual plans for Blasco (Erie Times-News) Comments made by Dr. Sherri Mason in a column supporting Gannon's lease at Blasco indicated plans to also use the library as a "mud room" for storage of wet and dirty [and possibly contaminated] equipment at Blasco, raising concerns about what Gannon's actual intentions are. Reader comments are on GoErie Facebook page; article was posted March 21.

County Council votes to rescind Gannon's Project Neptwne lease agreement, Davis vetoes (Erie News Now) Blasco defenders show no signs of letting up (Erie Times News)

Erie County Council Meeting 3/26/2024 Public remarks first 2 hours. Three speakers I thought worth attention on this occasion at 1:04 takes on Gannon's claim to be agents of environmental justice; 1:08 Informed that he had filed formal complaint with ACLU against Davis and Erie Co Council for violation of 1st Amendment (separation of church and state), explaining why this is setting a very serious precedent, and 1:13 assessed the lease as very weak and addressed the effects of mud room on mold and  paper in the library.

Column by Linda Romey OSB: 'Immoral deal' why Gannon's Blasco lease is an economic, political and religious failure (Erie Times-News) "A lease can be broken. An architect can adapt to a change in location. But the failure of sticking with an immoral deal will, in the long run, do more damage to the character of those who uphold it than to those who suffer from it. There is still time to teach something far greater to our county and especially to our youth in the response to this issue."
